2017 Scholarship Awards
In 2017 special inter-collegiate debate and essay competitions were held in Kollegal under the aegis of SVK girls junior college, Kollegal on the subject of "Women Empowerment". The Debate and the Essay competitions were held at SVK Junior College premises on Saturday the 08 July 2017 between 10:00 and 16:30 hours.
The Scholarship Award Ceremony was held on 12 Jul 2017 at "Shri Raja Rajeshwari Kalyana Mantapa, Kollegal" on a larger scale, being the centenary of Smt. Thangamma Aiyangar, in whose memory The 12 Jul 2017 Function was held jointly with " CLASS OF 62 - 63 MGSV H School Kollegal Charitable Trust" which also disburses scholarships to Meritorious Students of MGSV High School & Jr College as well as the top scoring students of Kollegal.
A special Science Awareness programme "VIDYARTHI - VIGYANI NERA SAMVADA" was also held on 12 July as part of the centenary celebrations. Smt. Regina Malaki, the Dy Director of Pre-university Education in-charge of the District & Smt. S Manjula, Dy Director, of School Education of the District were the Chief Guests. Smt. Manjula Could not grace the Function due to unavoidable reasons. IISc Prof. MR Nagaraju, a Nano technology Scientist and Security in Charge of 2nd Pokharan Peaceful Atomic explosion Test, Col Gopal T Kaushik gave inspirational lectures to nearly 500 Students who attended from nearby schools and colleges. The "CV Raman Vigyana Vedike" of kollegal and the "Karnataka Vigyana Parishat" Gave us the support for the conduct of the function. The Function took place from 10 in the morning till 4 in the evening. All the participants and guests were invited for a working lunch.
Total of 20 junior colleges participated in the Debate and Essay Competition. About 50 Local dignitaries attended the function. Jury for judging the competition from outside the education department in the Chamarajanagar & Mysore Districts, were invited.
The Debate and Essay competitions were held in a professional manner by the dedicated staff of SVK Junior College. As a part of the Centenary Celebrations of Smt. Thangamma Aiyangar, a special Pooja was held in the LakshmiNarayana temple at Kollegal on 11th Jul 2017 evening. Many people of the Town of Kollegal attended the temple function.
As a mark of respect to Smt. Thangamma Aiyangar on her Centenary celebration day, Seven additional Scholarships were introduced in memory of family members.
